I'm Joanna, a qualified MFL teacher with ten years of classroom experience teaching Key Stage 3 and GCSE, and five years of one-to-one tuition alongside it. I studied French and Russian at the University of Exeter and completed my PGCE at the UCL Institute of Education.

I've loved learning languages since I was eleven, and that passion has shaped my whole career. Speaking several languages myself means I understand the process of studying them and I use that insight to guide students through revision, skill-building and exam preparation.

I believe clear, succinct explanations in English often give learners the confidence they need before applying the language themselves, and families tell me they value that balanced, accessible approach. I'm enthusiastic, warm and highly organised, and I take pride in creating an atmosphere where students feel comfortable asking questions and celebrating their progress.

Every session uses dynamic presentations, questioning and quizzing, clear explanations and targeted drilling of vocabulary and grammar to build real mastery. We practise all four skills — listening, reading, writing and speaking — cover every topic in depth, and work on exam strategy so progress is rapid and measurable.

Every learner arrives with a different starting point. Some need to close gaps before GCSE, some want to speak with genuine confidence, and some are adults picking up a language for the first time in decades. Lessons are planned around you rather than around a fixed script.

Nothing beats the moment a student suddenly gets it — a tricky Spanish tense, a French phrase, or a whole topic finally clicking. All teaching is online, with slots available on weekdays and weekends.
